In 2012, the University of Illinois piloted the first ever University savings competition, "University of Illinois Saves", part of the "America Saves" national campaign. Members of each campus signed up and set a savings goal as part of this competition. Since its inception, the University of Illinois Saves competition has allowed 1,663 faculty, staff and students to set savings goals.
In an effort to support a culture of saving and positive financial behaviors on campus, the Student Money Management Center (SMMC), a unit of USFSCO, would like to invite staff & faculty to participate in this program again in 2015.
This is a voluntary program and participation is optional. SMMC is dedicated to helping individuals save money, reduce debt, and build wealth; promoting saving as a necessary behavior for financial success. The SMMC and University of Illinois Extension offices are coordinating this friendly savings competition again this year for faculty, staff and students between the Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield campuses, which is scheduled to run from America Saves Week (Feb. 23) through Money Smart Week (April 23).
The campus with the highest percentage of staff, faculty, and students to set savings goals will be named the winning campus. Members of the winning campus will have their names entered into a drawing for a collection of prizes.
