Dear colleagues,
As you may recall, the Policy and Rules for Civil Service Staff 16.01 – Conflict of Interest and related procedures were revised last year. Under the revised policy, all civil service staff are required to submit a conflict of interest form on an annual basis, regardless of whether you have an activity to report, using the online form.
Action Item
Please complete the online form by October 31, 2026. You may complete the form alongside your required ethics training during the month of October.
- If you have nothing to report, you will only need to respond to one question and submit the form.
- If you have activities to report, you will be able to complete the form online and route it for signature by entering your supervisor’s NetID.
- Please note that if you respond that you have activities to report, you should respond yes to at least one of the additional questions. If none of the questions seem to apply to your conflict, respond yes to the last question and explain your conflict in the text box that pops up.
Examples of conflicts you should report include (but are not limited to):
- Any position or job you hold outside the university
- A business owned by you or an immediate family member (spouse, parent, child, sibling, etc.), whether or not the entity does business with the university
- Board or leadership positions you hold with a non-profit or not-for-profit outside the university
- Farmland owned by you or your immediate family
- Other types of income-producing activity
- Government positions outside the university
Activities you do not need to report include:
- Activities directly related to your university position
- Ownership in stocks, bonds, or other investments, unless they pose a specific conflict with your university role
Questions?
If you are uncertain whether an activity should be reported, please contact ua-rnua-coci@uillinois.edu for guidance.
