Last year, over 700 staff, faculty & students participated in the first ever University savings competition, "University of Illinois Saves", part of the "America Saves" national campaign. Members of each campus signed up and set a savings goal as part of the competition. University of Illinois at Springfield won the University of Illinois Saves 2012 competition, with the highest percentage of their campus population setting a savings goal. In 2013, any of the 3 campuses could win!
In an effort to support a culture of saving and positive financial behaviors on campus, the Student Money Management Center (SMMC), a unit of USFSCO, would like to invite staff & faculty to participate in this program again in 2013.
This is a voluntary program and participation is optional. SMMC is dedicated to helping individuals save money, reduce debt, and build wealth; promoting saving as a necessary behavior for financial success. The SMMC and University of Illinois Extension offices are coordinating this friendly savings competition again this year for faculty, staff and students between the Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield campuses, which is scheduled to run from America Saves Week (Feb. 25) to Money Smart Week (April 26).
The highest ratio of 'savers' to population of staff, faculty, and students will be named the winning campus.
