The University continues to monitor the impact of the State budget impasse on employee health insurance. The State of Illinois provides health insurance coverage for State employees, including University employees, through the Group Insurance Program administered by the State Department of Central Management Services (CMS).
We understand and share the concerns expressed by employees about recent announcements from the State. To that end, we want to share the most updated notice and FAQs posted by CMS.
Please note that these postings do not represent any significant change, but provide further information. We continue to hear from healthcare providers, including UI Health, Springfield Clinic, Carle, Christie Clinic, and others, that they are conducting business as usual. Patients are continuing to be asked to pay only normal co-payments or normal cost-sharing amounts typically due.
