  • 50 Doctoral Students from Brazil to Pursue Advanced Research at the University of Illinois Through the Brasillinois Mobility Program

    This fall the University of Illinois System welcomes its first cohort of CAPES Brasillinois Mobility Program doctoral fellows from Brazil.  The dynamic group of scholars working across diverse fields have been awarded fellowships form the Coordination for Higher Education (CAPES) of the Brazilian Ministry of Education. The fellows represent a powerful cross-section of Brazil’s academic excellence, spanning regions, institutions, and disciplines, and reinforcing long-standing partnerships between Brazilian universities and Illinois.

  • Brasillinois Mobility Program Opens New Opportunities for PhD Students

    The Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) has launched the Brasillinois Mobility Program, a new initiative that strengthens academic collaboration between Brazil and the University of Illinois system in the United States. The program was formalized through a cooperation agreement signed on March 25, 2025, and offers doctoral students the chance to pursue part of their studies abroad.

    Eduardo Bustamante, an Associate Professor of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Illinois Chicago and Naiman Khan, an Associate Professor of Nutrition at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign traveled to Brazil in April to develop connections for collaboration in research on nutrition and health.
