Regional Infection Prevention Program Fall 2024 Internship

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is offering an exciting internship opportunity within the Regional Infection Prevention Program. This internship is ideal for individuals eager to delve into infection prevention strategies and develop compelling business cases for long-term care facilities.
Responsibilities:
Business Case Development: Create a comprehensive business case for infection prevention (IP) in long-term care (LTC) facilities. Develop persuasive arguments that highlight the financial and operational benefits of IP initiatives.
Team Collaboration: Work with the Regional Infection Prevention team to articulate the value of their work in LTC settings. Help foster collaboration by presenting a strong business rationale to facility administrators and corporate leadership.
Internal IP Capacity Building: Develop a case for LTC facilities to enhance their internal IP capacity. Provide clear, evidence-based arguments to support the development and expansion of IP roles within facilities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with LTC administrators and corporate leadership to present findings and recommendations. Help them understand the importance of robust infection prevention measures from a business perspective.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research and data analysis related to infection prevention and long-term care operations. Use findings to support business case arguments and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in MPH, MPA, Business, Public Health, or a similar field.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with infection prevention concepts and long-term care operations is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
Duration and Compensation:
This is a semester-long unpaid internship with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic commitments. The internship will be part-time, for approximately 5-10 hours per week, and is available as a remote or hybrid position located in Chicago. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution's guidelines.
