Location: Springfield, IL. Must be located within 1 hour of Springfield, Illinois to work onsite for 15 hours a week.
Overview:
Join the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) as a Finance and Payroll Operations Intern. In this position, you would assist our main payroll coordinator in developing a comprehensive manual of standard operating procedures. This manual will facilitate easy updates in the event of a new payroll system implementation. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the intersection of personnel and budget/payroll functions within our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the payroll team to create a user-friendly manual of standard operating procedures.
- Observe and participate in the interactions between the personnel department and payroll/budget teams.
- Assist in gathering materials for auditors as needed.
- Help address employee inquiries related to payroll processes.
Requirements:
- Located within 1 hour of Springfield, Illinois to work onsite for 15 hours a week.
- Undergraduate or graduate student.
- Currently pursuing a degree in finance, accounting, human resources, or a related field.
- Off-campus work eligibility is required for international students.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Basic understanding of payroll systems is a plus, but not required.
Duration and Compensation:
Internship will begin immediately upon placement. This is an unpaid internship with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic commitments. This is an onsite position in Springfield, Illinois for 10-15 hours a week. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution's guidelines.
