Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in emergency management and planning. The intern will assist in developing a new pandemic playbook and a Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work on various other planning projects, including environmental health, CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives), and recovery plans.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in writing and developing a comprehensive pandemic playbook.
- Contribute to the creation and updating of the Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan.
- Support other planning projects as time allows, including environmental health, CBRNE, and recovery plans.
- Conduct research and gather data to inform planning efforts.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure plans are thorough and effective.
- Utilize ArcGIS skills to support mapping and spatial analysis tasks (preferred but not required).
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate student from Western Illinois University (B.S. Emergency Management) or Eastern Illinois University (B.S. Public Health, concentration in Emergency Management).
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with ArcGIS (preferred but not required).
- International students must be eligible to work off-campus. Please include verification in cover letter.
Duration and Compensation:
This is a summer internship that will begin in May and conclude in August. This is an unpaid internship with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic commitments. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution's guidelines. This is a remote opportunity for 15-20 hours a week.
