Join IDPH’s Physical Services team as a Property Control Intern and gain valuable experience in managing and maintaining the organization's inventory and property control systems. This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of our property management processes while learning from experienced professionals in a supportive environment.
Location: Springfield, IL (in-person)
Responsibilities:
- Assist in controlling, maintaining, and evaluating the IDPH Property Control System.
- Review and update property control policies and procedures to align with departmental and audit standards.
- Collaborate with inventory coordinators across the agency, providing guidance on inventory processes.
- Organize and manage the agency's physical inventory of office equipment, furniture, computers, and other assets.
- Issue property control tags for high-theft and depreciable equipment purchases, ensuring accurate data entry into SAP.
- Support acquisitions, transfers, deletions, and site/location changes within the statewide master inventory list.
- Maintain rosters of IDPH inventory location codes and coordinate with location coordinators.
- Act as the Agency liaison to Central Management Services (CMS) for property control matters.
- Coordinate with CMS to authorize the disposal of scrapped items and manage surplus property.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in relevant field of study.
- Able to work approximately 15 hours per week.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and procedures is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Interest in learning about property control practices and procedures.
Duration and Compensation:
This is a semester-long unpaid internship with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic commitments. The internship will be part-time for approximately 10-15 hours per week onsite in Springfield, Illinois. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution's guidelines.
