Procurement Summer 2024 Internship
Join our team at the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and make a difference in public procurement! We are a dynamic agency dedicated to enhancing procurement processes to better serve our community. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our Agency Purchasing Officer and contribute to meaningful projects that drive efficiency and effectiveness in procurement practices.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Agency Purchasing Officer to enhance procurement procedures.
- Design, modify, test, and integrate various tracking sheets to ensure smooth procurement processes and prevent delays or oversights.
- Compile diverse procurement phrases, styles, formats, and proposals for future reference and utilization in procurement activities.
- Assist in proofreading documents, ensuring accuracy in grammar, spelling, formatting, links, and adherence to file naming conventions, while comparing with records in the Bid Buy system.
- Maintain prompt communication by responding to emails within 24 hours on workdays.
- Allocate 10-15 hours per week for tasks, flexible to accommodate other commitments such as school or additional employment.
Requirements:
- Currently an undergraduate student (business or a related major preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in communication and collaboration.
- Ability to work remotely and independently.
- Access to a laptop for remote work.
- Interest in procurement processes and willingness to learn.
Duration and Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic commitments. This internship will be part-time for approximately 10 hours per week, potentially increased to 15 hours in June due to fiscal year transitions. This is a remote position. The internship may extend into the Fall semester based on mutual agreement between the intern and the organization. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution's guidelines.
