Are you interested in gaining practical experience in environmental health data management? Join our team at the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) as an intern and play a vital role in processing data, managing databases, and supporting projects related to environmental health regulations. The intern will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities within the field of environmental health.

Responsibilities:
- Respond to daily email inquiries related to coliform sampling requirements in a timely and professional manner.
- Accurately input and manage data in the coliform access database, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Assist in the development and execution of projects related to the administration of environmental violations, public notices, and sampling reminders.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate and implement initiatives that enhance environmental health compliance and awareness.
- Provide support in compiling, organizing, and analyzing environmental health data to support regulatory compliance efforts.
- Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of data management systems and procedures.
- Offer guidance and support to the next incoming intern, fostering a collaborative and educational team environment.
- Share knowledge and best practices to help peers grow and succeed in their roles.
- Perform other tasks as assigned, aligned with the goals and objectives of the environmental health team.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel for database management and data entry.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Interest in environmental health regulations and compliance.
Duration and Compensation:
This is a two-semester internship that will begin in August 2025 and end in May 2026. This is an unpaid internship with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic commitments. The internship will be part time for approximately 15-20 hours per week. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution's guidelines.
