Caroline has been with UIF’s Research team since October 2015, but only recently stepped into the role of Director. While already a familiar face for some, she is likely a new face for many in Advancement. In an effort to introduce her to the wider Advancement community at U of I, we submitted Caroline to an interrogation:
Describe your role in 5 words.
Managing RPM resources, lotsa meetings
What is on your vision for your new role as RPM Director at UIF?
I would like to see RPM further integrated into advancement functions, develop our data analytics capabilities, and continue fulfilling the RPM mission. Internally, we have a great team, so I want to do my part to continue making RPM a fulfilling work experience.
What was your first job?
The dining hall of a retirement home in Raleigh. The widow of a former North Carolina governor lived there; I still remember her dessert order (peach frozen yogurt).
What is something you learned in the last week?
Too many things to note!
What do you like to do, when not working hard for UIF?
I love traveling and visiting new places. This year I realized my goal of visiting all 50 states. (I didn’t visit all of them in one year, but visited my 50th state this year).
What is something you’ve never done, but would like to do?
A decent push-up.
If you could be any cartoon character, which would you be?
When I was a kid I wanted to be She-Ra, Princess of Power.
Do you have a motto or personal mantra?
“When I have tried and failed, I shall have failed.” From Antigone by Sophocles
What is something people might be surprised to know about you?
I’ve played a lot of Red Dead Redemption and Assassin’s Creed.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
A sense of humor.
What is your favorite meal, food, or restaurant?
I can’t wait to get Hong Kong noodles with tofu from Golden Harbor. I’m also a big fan of the Chicago Diner.
What is something you always wished you could learn?
Proficiency in another language or musical instrument.
