The State Department of Central Management Services (CMS) has announced that a new agreement between the State of Illinois and AFSCME was ratified on June 22, 2019. Provisions of the agreement with respect to healthcare benefits under the State Employees Group Insurance Program will be extended to benefits-eligible University employees.
- The agreement amends the group health insurance contribution amounts (i.e., health plan premiums deducted from your pay) for Members and their Dependents effective January 1, 2020. Contribution amounts will vary based on the Member's salary band and the chosen health plan.
- Due to these contribution changes, CMS is planning to hold a limited Special Enrollment Period (2nd Benefit Choice) during the Fall to allow Members to change health carriers effective January 1, 2020, if they wish. The timing and duration of the Special Enrollment Period has not yet been determined.
More Information Will be Coming Soon
When additional information is available from CMS, including specific plan costs and timing of the Special Enrollment Period, it will be communicated broadly to State benefits-eligible employees via email and an announcement posted on the System HR Services websitehttps://www.hr.uillinois.edu.
