At their meeting on January 19, 2017, the Board of Trustees amended the General Rules Concerning University Organization and Procedure, Article IV, Section 1, (l) related to funeral/bereavement leave and Section 4, b(2) related to sick leave. These amendments reflect provisions in the Illinois Child Bereavement Leave Act (Public Act 099-0703) enacted on July 29, 2016, and the Illinois Employee Sick Leave Act (Public Act 99-0841) and federal Executive Order 13706 Federal Contractor Paid Sick Leave, both enacted on January 1, 2017.
Correspondingly, revisions to Policy and Rules for Civil Service Staff have also been approved as follows:
* Policy 10, Sick Leave – effective 1/19/17
* Rule 11.05, Funeral Leave – effective 1/31/17
Changes to these policies affect all University employees eligible for funeral/bereavement leave and/or sick leave.
