We recently communicated that MetLife is the new Life Insurance Carrier for the State of Illinois Employees’ Group Insurance Program (SEGIP). See below for some important updates regarding this transition.
Any beneficiary designations you made prior to July 1, 2021 will automatically transfer to MetLife. If you have not designated your beneficiary(ies), or would like to make changes, you may complete the MetLife Beneficiary Designation form and mail it to the address on the form.
An online beneficiary form will be available soon.
NOTE: If you have recently submitted an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) to Securian to increase your life coverage or add a spouse, please note if the underwriting process was not completed by 6/30/2021, you will receive notification that the coverage has been denied and you will need to submit a new Statement of Health (EOI) to MetLife for processing. All claims for a date of death on or before 6/30/2021 will need to be submitted to Securian Financial (Minnesota Life) for processing.
