University Bursar is offering a new Cash Handling Certificate Track through the Business Administrators Certification Program (BACP). The track was designed for cash handling employees to learn about the policies, compliance, and recommended practices relating to cash handling, including cash handling fundamentals, managing change funds, and advanced cash handling.
Certificate Track information
It is the responsibility of department and unit heads/supervisors of Cash Handling Units to ensure that all front line cash staff, including student workers, complete any training required for their job duties. This would include, at a minimum, completing the Level I: Cash Handling Fundamentals course.
The Cash Handling Certificate Track covers the following self-paced online courses (each course/level is a prerequisite to the next in order to earn the Cash Handling Certificate):
Level I - Cash Handling Fundamentals Certificate Course
Take this introductory course to learn fundamental information about cash handling topics, policies, and recommended practices: This course is:
- recommended for all front line cash staff
- completed as a standalone certificate separate from the Advanced Cash Handling Certificate
Level II - Managing Change Funds Compliance Course
Meet your compliance requirement with this mandatory course providing detailed information about managing change funds, including establishing and modifying change funds, responsibilities of custodians, and completing Change Fund Annual Renewals. The course is:
- required for all Change Fund custodians
- due annually by July 15. Due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19, an extension to complete this training has been granted and is set for October 15, 2020
Level III - Advanced Cash Handling Certificate Course
This course reiterates the fundamental principles of cash handling and provides additional information specific to Cash Handling Unit department or unit heads/supervisors. While this course applies primarily to Cash Handling Unit department or unit heads/supervisors, this course is available to all university employees.

This track is offered in a self-paced online format and can be completed one course at a time. All three levels of training must be completed within six months to earn the Advanced Cash Handling Certificate. To learn more, please visit the Business Administrators Certification Program website.
