Are you in need of a go-to method for keeping your equipment data organized? Take just a moment to learn about the Fund Attribute Value.
The Fund Attribute Value (FAV) is a data field that allows you to enter a fund number value to associate your equipment with the service center fund where it is used. This FAV allows you to sort your equipment by fund numbers that are different from the fund(s) used to purchase the equipment.
This can be extremely useful if you have multiple self-supporting activities in your department. Recall that equipment is organized at the org code level in Banner. So, if you have many State or ICR-funded pieces of equipment, it can be difficult to identify all the equipment used in a particular service center without something like the FAV.
The FAV defaults as a blank record but can be updated with a quick email to your department’s contact at University Property Accounting and Reporting (UPAR). You can also use the general inbox at mailto:obfsuafrproperty@uillinois.edu to make these changes. Be sure to list the PTag for each item and the service center fund number you’d like to add to the FAV field.
System Government Costing recommends taking a few minutes to update your FAVs anytime you perform a rate calculation for a service center. We’re confident that this will save you some time and headaches in the future.
