Highlights For Bursar Cashier Operations
This month, we have important information to highlight related to our University Bursar Cashier Operations unit, with offices located at Chicago, Urbana-Champaign, and Springfield. Specifically:
- COVID-19 Cash Handling-related Policy Exception memo authorized by the Comptroller and expectations for unit Department Heads
- Links to our office hours and service changes impacted by COVID-19
- Introduction of Athanazia Varner, newly promoted to the Coordinator position of the Urbana-Champaign Cashier Operations team
- New Customer Satisfaction Survey
Policy Exception Memo from Comptroller: Due to circumstances relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Comptroller has authorized cash-handling policy exceptions for unit heads of cash handling units. Units are temporarily permitted to modify required internal controls for conducting cash handling operations described in fiscal policies 10.1.2 and 10.3.1. Unit heads should refer to specific permitted exceptions and documentation requirements detailed in Cash Handling Policy Exceptions, prior to making any modifications. These exceptions remain in effect until June 30, 2021; unless extended.
Unit heads with cash handling operations may be required to produce documentation that justifies and describes the modifications made in their units during the COVID-19 pandemic. Refer to the memo for full details. If you have questions regarding the exceptions or your unit modifications, please contact us.
Operations and Contact Information for Bursar Cashier Operations office locations: With adjusted days, services, and in-person hours implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of our team and customers, please visit our Cash Handling page for your University location for hours and contact information. There are new shared email addresses for each team, and we ask that you use these emails rather than contacting us individually. This allows us to be more responsive to all inquiries regardless of who is in the office. https://www.obfs.uillinois.edu/cash-handling/
New Coordinator, Athanazia Varner, at UIUC Bursar Cashier Operations: To provide better focus and specialization for our organization, we are happy to introduce you to a new Cashier Operations Coordinator at UIUC, replacing Scott Pinkerton. Scott had combined Coordinator duties for Bursar Cashier Operations and Bursar Customer Service. Effective immediately, Scott will focus on Customer Service, and Athanazia will focus on Cashier Operations. Many of you have worked with Athanazia over the last two years as the primary contact for Cash Handling Procedure reviews at UIUC, and she was actively involved in developing our new Cash Handling Certificate Training. Scott and Athanazia are working together to ensure a smooth transition, and we are grateful for the leadership that Scott provided to the teams the last three years. Thank you, Scott! Congratulations, Athanazia!
Your Satisfaction is Important to us: As our service delivery methods and responses to you have changed over the past few months, we want to know how we are doing in meeting your needs. In October, we created and now include a link in our email responses asking you to let us know how we are doing. It is an anonymous, short, 3-question survey to measure how Knowledgeable and Friendly you thought we were, and whether the issue was answered to your Satisfaction. You can also provide complaints and compliments. A Manager will respond to you, if appropriate, if you provide your contact information. Please help us maintain and improve our service to you by taking the survey.
