Did you know that any equipment used in self-supporting fund activities should have an applicable entity code assigned to its equipment record within Banner? See below for details:
- From an equipment management standpoint, an entity code is a four-digit code that identifies the type of self-supporting fund for which a piece of equipment is used.
- The funding source used to purchase the equipment is not relevant when determining the correct entity code to assign to the equipment. Instead, the focus should be on the self-supporting activity which is using the equipment.
- The entity code of the self-supporting fund that is using the equipment is the entity code that should be assigned to the related equipment record in Banner.
- A self-supporting fund’s entity code can typically be found within the Predecessor Fund field of Banner page FZMFUND.
- Banner page FTIFNDH can also be used to view a self-supporting fund’s hierarchy within Banner. The self-supporting fund’s entity is embedded within this hierarchy and is listed in the Fund Level 3 field within this page.
For further details, refer to Section 12.2.4, Maintain Entity Codes for Self-Supporting Activities, from the Business and Financial Policies and Procedures.
