I write to you today with mixed emotions to announce that Kassaundra Hester, Senior Director of University Payroll and Benefits, is leaving the University of Illinois System. Saundra has accepted the position of Director of Corporate Payroll Services at Duke University.
Saundra began working at the University of Illinois as the Associate Director of Payroll Operations on September 5, 2006. Approximately one year later, the university’s payroll and benefits functions were merged into one unit, University Payroll & Benefits (UPB).
When Jim Davito retired from the university in April 2018, Saundra was appointed Senior Director of University Payroll & Benefits.
While we are happy for Saundra’s next step in her career, we will miss her and the leadership she has exhibited at the university. Saundra helped to create a culture within UPB that emphasizes the importance of customer service, professionalism, accuracy, and ethics. We wish her the best.
Saundra’s last day at the U of I will be July 15, 2021.
Larry Hanyzewski, Director of University Payroll & Benefits, will assume Saundra’s responsibilities on an interim basis until a replacement is identified through a search process.
