Tell us why you deserve to be the FY21 University Bursar Pet of the Year:
Hello, my name is Nola, and I think I should be the University Bursar Pet of the Year because I
am already practically a Bursar myself! Being adopted in the middle of a pandemic while mom
is having to work from home has definitely sparked an interest in me being a Bursar. I love to
sit and watch mom answer phone calls and respond to emails. Sometimes, I even thinks mom’s
email responses aren’t good enough and starts to type the response myself. I even like to steal
mom’s work chair when she gets up, just to show her who the REAL Bursar is here. I embody many
characteristics that a customer service representative should have. I have good time management
skills (I ALWAYS knows when it is lunch time and break time), I am able to clearly communicate (I
meow at mom when I want food), and I am friendly and empathetic (I cuddle with mom after a long
day of serving the University of Illinois customers). I am well on my way to be a valuable assist to
the University Bursar, and I believe that I am extremely deserving of being the University Bursar Pet
of the Year!
Interests:
One of my biggest interests is drinking out the Britta water filer and drinking out the sink. I drive
mom crazy when she is pottying and I sit there and meow at the sink!! I also love to sit at the
window and watch all the craziness that is happening outside. While mom is working, I love to follow
the mouse cursor around on the screen and try to catch it – don’t worry, I am FERPA certified. For
play time, I am obsessed with my laser. I will chase that thing all day until I catch it. I have also
recently discovered I love catching bubbles. Dad says mom isn’t supposed to blow bubbles in the
kitchen, but mom still does it anyways when dad isn’t home. That is why mom is my favorite.

Special skills:
Something that sets me apart from other cats is that I not only LOVE to be outside, but I love my
leash! Mom leaves my collar on all day. Most cats hate their collar, but I don’t mind mine. When
mom hooks the leash onto my collar, I know it is time to go outside and play. I let mom walk me on
my leash, just like a dog! I am also a secret ninja. I have been improving my martial arts skills on
mom by batting at her. I think I could be the star of a “Ninja Cats” television series.
Favorite movie, podcast, song, or other type of media:
I have grown to love a lot of the same stuff that mom likes. Mom’s favorite artist is Taylor Swift. I
wasn’t a huge fan of her, but then I heard that she has three cats of her own, and I decided to give
her a chance. After all, I didn’t have much of a choice since that is all mom listens to on our car rides
to the vet. Now, mom and I are always “Shake(ing) it off” together! I also love movie night with mom
and dad! I like to snuggle up with them. I tend to fall asleep during movies, but the movies with loud
noises keep me entertained. Mom and Dad watched “Remember the Titans” the other day, and I
really liked that one!
Guilty pleasure(s):
Sometimes, when mom and I are working on emails, I get really sleepy and just need a nap. I
always think mom needs a nap to, so I go lay right on her. This way, we can both get a nap in! Mom
always tells me that I am distracting her from her work, but I think a little cat nap is good every now
and then. I also have a bad guilty pleasure of only wanting to drink out of mom’s water cup. I don’t
really like to drink out of my water bowl. I am much too fancy for that. Mom’s water just tastes SO
MUCH better. Dad says mom spoils me too much, but I think I am a princess and deserve to be
spoiled.
