This past August, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos hosted three regional meetings as part of her “Partnering for Illinois’ Economic Future” initiative. The meetings, which took place in the Rockford, Peoria, and the Quad Cities, engaged local leaders from a wide spectrum of industries on advancing economic development partnerships.
The University of Illinois was pleased to collaborate with Congresswoman Bustos on this initiative to spark economic growth and competitiveness in western Illinois. Vice President for Research Larry Schook, Special Assistant to the President Jim Oliver, and Assistant Director of Economic Development Joey Mak played key roles in these meetings.
Congresswoman Bustos recently issued a report which outlines the findings from the meetings as well as a public survey that her office conducted. Later this fall, Congresswoman Bustos will host an economic summit which will convene community leaders from all across her district.
