A new report entitled “Sparking Economic Growth 2.0” was released today by The Science Coalition (TSC), a national association comprised of public and private research universities (including the University of Illinois) dedicated to advocating for strong funding of basic scientific research. The report highlights a total of 100 companies which are the result of federally-funded university research, demonstrating the significant role that this federal investment has had in driving innovation, jobs, and growth. Seven of the ten companies listed from Illinois got their start from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and two others got their start from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). They include:

- Immersive Touch (UIC)
- Mobitrac, Inc. (UIC)
- OrthoAccel Technologies Inc. (UIC)
- ToleroGenics (UIC)

- Xerion Advanced Battery Corp (UIUC)
