During a brief interview we asked a few serious (and not-so-serious) questions of Kat. Here is what we learned.
How has your experience at the Foundation helped you so far?
Kat shared her experience has allowed her to develop her communication skills and become more confident in networking with people. She was also proud to see improvement in her leadership abilities through the different positions and programs that she has been a part of at UIF.
Tell us about your proudest Illini moment to date? Why?
Kat’s Illini experience and great work ethic landed her a summer internship at an investment and wealth management firm in Chicago.
What scholarships have helped you along the way?
Kat reported a variety of financial help including federal aid, a local scholarship, and of course her parents. All support, whether financial or otherwise, has been invaluable.
What is your end goal after graduation?
As a senior, Kat is beginning the job hunt and starting to see how her hard work will come to fruition. She reported a dream job would be to work in investment management. She enjoys the research side of investing, so her dream is to be an equity research analyst or portfolio manager. Her work experience at UIF will be crucial to helping fulfill these dreams, as she noted UIF to be a great place to build the essential network every student and young professional needs.
What types of things keep you busy outside of school and work?
Outside of her Illinois work and experience, Kat said she stayed plenty busy participating in different organizations here on campus such as, Illini Women in Economics. As a senior, she is also working her way through the “Things Every Illini Needs to do Before Graduating” bucket list.
What’s one fun fact about you?
Because her mother is very into genealogy, Kat shared that she learned she is related to Amelia Earhart!
Kat—Thank you for your participation across all things ‘Illinois.’ As your senior year starts, we wish you big success with the “Things Every Illini Needs to do Before Graduating” bucket list, and a whole lot of success as you set out into the working world! - UIF
