UIC Purchasing took off running with Mike Bass's Transparency Commitment Initiative, and they have crossed the finish line by successfully completing their transparency Action Plan! What better way to support the OBFS vision of transaction-level transparency than with the iBuy online purchasing system.
UIC Purchasing's tactic was to follow-up on the results of a customer survey of business managers that had identified "status of iBuy requisitions" as the top transactional area to focus transparency efforts. After following up, customers confirmed that the existing iBuy system functionality met their needs, but they identified that iBuy users needed additional training on how to access the transaction status information on requisitions. UIC Purchasing now has added additional training on how to locate the History and Req Approval tabs in iBuy which provides that transaction status and supports transaction-level transparency. For example, customers can view who in purchasing their requisition is assigned to.
This past January, Julia Kilgore from UIC Purchasing presented a webinar to customers on how to access that information in iBuy. Feedback on the webinar was very positive. UIC Purchasing has incorporated the key information on iBuy transaction status into its ongoing iBuy training plan and will have a refresher webinar on this topic as part of its upcoming webinar series.
