This notice pertains only to departments advertising for academic positions. Non-academic staff position advertising will continue to be administered through the campus Human Resources office. Please contact the Employment section of that office for details.
With the current environment of tight budgets, departments may be hiring fewer employees, and therefore, may have a lesser need for recruitment advertising. However, for those departments who do have immediate hiring needs, it is important that the University make available cost-saving opportunities for units and departments.
New CareerBuilder Rate and Posting Portal
The University recently finalized an agreement with CareerBuilder to provide a one-month job posting for $200, which is a discount of over $200 per posting. This rate is effective immediately. In order to get the $200 rate, your unit must submit the posting in one of two ways:
1) Submit job ads directly to CareerBuilder using the new University of Illinois online job posting portal at http://www.careerbuilder.com/PP/UniversityofIllinois, which allows each college/unit/department to set up their own CareerBuilder account and pay online using a P-Card.
2) Submit job posting through Shaker Recruitment Advertising by emailing Valerie Olsz at dteam@shaker.com (see additional information below).
Shaker & CareerBuilder
As described above, colleges/units/departments can place ads directly through the new CareerBuilder posting portal for $200. If your department would like Shaker to place the ad with CareerBuilder, then they can do that for an additional $50 fee (total of $250). Shakers $50 fee includes posting to CareerBuilder, as well as transmission of the same job ad to up to four additional Internet sources (please note that this fee does not include the posting/media costs associated with the other internet sources). Shaker also has an agreement with the Chicago Tribune, which will allow a college/unit/department to advertise the same position that was posted on CareerBuilder in the Chicago Tribune for a $325 discount.
Please note that if you do choose to work exclusively through Shaker, you will not need to set up an account through the CareerBuilder job posting portal. Shaker will process the job ad and then bill your department directly.
