A new Life Insurance with Long-Term Care benefit through MyBenefits Plus is available for purchase by full-time State of Illinois benefits-eligible employees. This voluntary benefit allows you to use it while living to help pay for long-term care at home, in assisted living, or with professional support.
- Open Enrollment is available now through December 5.
- Guaranteed issue coverage during this initial Open Enrollment (no medical questions or exams).
- Your premium is post-tax and is locked in at enrollment and will not increase.
- Coverage begins the day you enroll and payroll deductions start February 1, 2026
- Long-Term Care has a 90-day elimination period
- Cariloop® caregiver support, providing expert guidance on elder care, Medicare/Medicaid, and navigating caregiving responsibilities.
- Flexible and Portable coverage if you retire or leave the University of Illinois System.

Attending an Information Session is an approved event under Policy and Rules for Civil Service Staff, Rule 11.12. Employees may be released up to one hour from work to attend an Information Session, operations permitting, and subject to prior supervisor approval.
