As communicated this past spring, the paid time off for COVID-19-related reasons provided to employees under the federal American Rescue Plan Act ended September 30, 2021. As of the date of this notice, federal action has not renewed that program.
On a temporary basis, the University of Illinois System will continue to provide a limited amount of paid time off to eligible employees in support of COVID-19 vaccination requirements and isolation orders. This leave time will be made available October 1, 2021, until further notice, or until further state or federal guidance is available.
Temporary Coronavirus Paid Leave is separate from accrued personal sick leave and is available to eligible employees who are unable to work or telework because they are:
- obtaining the vaccine or recovering from any injury, disability, illness, or condition related to the vaccination (paid leave up to 2 days/16 hours at regular rate of pay);
- under an isolation order due to infection with the virus even if asymptomatic (paid leave up to 2 weeks/80 hours at regular rate of pay).
Visit the System HR Temporary Coronavirus Paid Leave page for more details about time off for COVID-19 vaccination purposes or isolation orders, including pay and limitations.
