The State Universities Retirement System (SURS) announced that they will be holding an election to fill three vacant seats on the SURS board of trustees. The election will be held during April 2018. All SURS participants are encouraged to consider running for a board position. Candidate packets and petition forms are available from SURS by contacting Kelly Carson at kcarson@surs.org.
Two of the three vacant seats will be filled by active SURS participants, while one seat will be filled by an annuitant (retiree). To run for a participant seat, you must be an active SURS participant and have your petition signed by 400 other active SURS participants. For the annuitant seat, you must be an annuitant and collect signatures from 100 other annuitants. Candidate applications must be submitted to SURS by December 31, 2017, and completed petitions are due to SURS by January 31, 2018.
In March 2018, election materials will be mailed to all SURS participants to vote via paper ballot, by phone or online. The voting period will run from April 2 through May 1, 2018 at which time all ballots will be due.
