Earlier this year, we communicated the leave provision changes due to the Illinois Family Bereavement Leave Act. The University of Illinois System Human Resources website has been updated to reflect these changes and may be viewed on the Family Bereavement Leave webpage.
Employees may take up to 10 days of unpaid leave following a qualifying event involving a covered family member. Leave-benefit eligible employees may be paid for up to 5 of the 10 days as paid funeral/bereavement leave. To learn more about this leave, view Funeral/Bereavement Leave FAQs.
To use this leave, submit a request through your Human Resource representative.
